Apostles and Prophets

A week or so ago, before the Boise Rescue controversy, I was curious when the last time was that each of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve testified in General Conference that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet.

I looked for the most recent, most direct testimony I could find, wanting especially those that name Pres. Monson directly. There may be other, more recent examples in articles, local talks, etc., but I was most concerned with General Conference.

President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord’s living prophet. I so testify in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.

– Henry B. Eyring, Oct 2014 Conference

I am most grateful to President Thomas S. Monson, the prophet of God for our days

– Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Oct 2014 Conference

At the head of the Church sit 15 men sustained as prophets, seers, and revelators. Each of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles holds all of the priesthood keys necessary for directing the Church. The senior Apostle is prophet-President Thomas S. Monson, who is the only one authorized to exercise all of those keys.

– Boyd K. Packer, Oct 2011 Conference

My brothers and sisters, across the world this morning we have come to listen to a prophet’s voice. I testify that the voice we have just heard is the voice of God’s living prophet on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson.

– L. Tom Perry, Apr 2011 Conference

The Lord reveals His will for the Church to His prophet. Yesterday, after we were invited to sustain Thomas S. Monson as President of the Church, we also had the privilege to sustain him, the counselors in the First Presidency, and members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators.

– Russell M. Nelson Oct. 2014 Conference

I testify of the divinely directed function of the keys of the priesthood, held and exercised in their fulness by our prophet/president, Thomas S. Monson.

– Dallin H. Oaks, April 2014 Conference

It is by these keys, this authority, and this power that the Church of Jesus Christ is organized today, with Christ at the head directing His living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and assisted by duly called and ordained Apostles.

– M. Russell Ballard April 2013 Conference

I bear solemn witness of how deeply I love our new prophet, seer, and revelator, President Thomas S. Monson—how deeply I trust him, and how I am willing to do whatever he asks me to do.

– Richard G. Scott, April 2008 Conference

...we have a prophet in this dispensation—even President Thomas S. Monson—to lead and to guide us.

– Robert D. Hales Oct 2014 Conference

I know that President Thomas S. Monson, who moves devotedly and buoyantly toward the 50th anniversary of his ordination as an Apostle, is the rightful successor to that prophetic mantle today.

– Jeffrey R. Holland, April 2013 Conference

(Since called as an Apostle in 2004, I cannot find an instance where Elder Bednar directly testifies as Thomas S. Monson as a prophet in General Conference. This is the closest he comes.)

I testify the holy priesthood indeed has been restored to the earth in these latter days and is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I also witness that President Thomas S. Monson is the presiding high priest over the high priesthood of the Church and the only person upon the earth who both holds and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys.

– David A. Bednar April 2012 Conference

One of the ways we do this is by adhering to the teachings of our living prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. He is an excellent example of one who follows the Savior.

– Quentin L. Cook, April 2010 Conference

I declare my testimony of the calling of President Thomas S. Monson as prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ in this time and pledge my loyalty to him and his counselors in their sacred roles.

– D. Todd Christofferson, April 2008 Conference

We eagerly await the concluding remarks of our beloved prophet. President Thomas S. Monson was ordained an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ when I was 12 years old. For more than 48 years we have been blessed to hear him bear witness of Jesus Christ. I testify that he now stands as the Savior’s senior Apostle upon the earth.

– Neil L. Andersen April 2012 Conference
